e-Learning Jamaica Company Limited Appoints New CEO

Kingston, Jamaica – On Thursday, January 3, 2018, e-Learning Jamaica Company Limited

(e-LJam) welcomed Mr. Keith Smith as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to the company.

 

Keith is a veteran of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry with over 29 years of senior executive experience in both the public and the private sectors. Keith holds a BSC degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the UWI, St. Augustine, Trinidad and an MSc in Telecommunication and Information Systems at the University of Essex, in Colchester, England.

 

Keith is a Kingston College Old Boy. Prior to joining e-LJam, Keith has held executive positions with Cable and Wireless Jamaica, Digicel, Air Jamaica, Adjoint Business Solutions Limited and the Jamaica Public Service Company where he delivered significant transformational technology programmes. Keith also provided consulting services to TSTT in Trinidad and Tobago.

 

Keith is now tasked with leading the transformation of e-Learning at the executive level.

 

In a meeting with the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Christopher Reckord, and   members of the Management Team, expressed that “he is committed to setting demanding goals and empowering the team to work effectively together.” He also added that “e-LJam has a critical role to play in the transformation of the educational learning processes in Jamaica and the team is going to implement the policies of the Government.”

 

Mr. Reckord added, “Keith is joining the organization at a critical time as we are about to embark on our most ambitious project since our existence. Deployment, distribution and implementation of thousands of devices to hundreds of schools across the island requires the type of no-nonsense leadership that Keith Smith brings to the table.”

 

e-Learning Jamaica Company Limited is an agency of the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information as well as the Universal Service Fund which is responsible for guiding and directing the implementation of projects.
